In-rooms procedures
Advanced colorectal treatments performed safely in the rooms
Many anorectal conditions can be treated effectively and safely in the rooms (office), without hospital admission or general anaesthetic. This means shorter waiting times, lower out-of-pocket costs, and the possibility of driving home the same day.
Dr Matt Marino offers advanced, in-room procedures using specialised equipment (including CO2 laser) not widely available in Melbourne. Care is personalised to your needs, with an emphasis on minimising discomfort, preserving function, reducing scarring, and ensuring a smooth recovery.
If you would like more information, please call 0493 318 188.
Our in-rooms treatments
Rubber band ligation (haemorrhoids)
A simple, effective treatment for internal haemorrhoids that reduces rectal bleeding and prolapse without the need for surgery.
Anal skin tag removal
Removal of excess skin around the anus that may cause irritation, hygiene issues or cosmetic concerns.
Botox injection for anal fissures
A minimally invasive treatment that helps relax the anal muscle, allowing fissures to heal and reducing pain. Botox can also help treat painful anal intercourse, especially when combined with dilation.
Wart removal
Treatment of anal warts using precise techniques to remove affected tissue and reduce recurrence. This is performed under magnification using high-resolution anoscopy and CO2 laser.
Anal manometry
A procedure that assesses the strength, sensation and function of the anal sphincter, giving results that help guide treatment.
High-Resolution Anoscopy (HRA)
A specialised procedure involving magnified examination of the anus, used to detect and treat anal pre-cancer (HSIL) in high-risk patients.
Advanced technology and techniques
Dr Matt Marino uses specialised equipment not widely available in Melbourne. This includes a colposcope that provides a magnified view of the anal canal, enabling more precise treatment. He uses a CO2 laser within the rooms for selected conditions. This reduces scarring and damage to unaffected tissue, potentially shortening recovery time.

Procedures are performed in a dedicated office setting and take only a short time. You will be assessed beforehand to ensure the procedure is appropriate to be performed in the office, and clear instructions will be given on how to prepare and what to expect. Local anaesthetic will be used where required.
You can usually return home shortly after, with clear aftercare instructions and follow-up arranged if needed.
-
Not all conditions are suitable for treatment in the rooms (office). More complex cases may still require hospital-based surgery. Dr Matt Marino will assess your condition and discuss the safest, most appropriate and effective treatment for you.

When procedures are performed in rooms (office), sedation or a general anaesthetic is not used. Topical and local anaesthetics will be used when appropriate.

The exact duration of time varies depending on the procedure(s) you are having and your specific clinical scenario. In general, the procedure is much quicker than having it done in a hospital. As a guide, 15 to 60 minutes is usually sufficient. Staff will discuss with you how long your procedure is expected to take.
